Hyundai maintained its No. 2 position in the Indian automobile market in January 2025, trailing behind Maruti Suzuki and ahead of Tata Motors, capturing a 13.4% market share. The brand continues to strengthen its foothold with a diverse lineup of sedans, hatchbacks, and SUVs, catering to different fuel preferences, including petrol, diesel, CNG, and electric vehicles.

In January 2025, Hyundai sold 54,003 units, reflecting a 5.4% decline YoY compared to 57,115 units in January 2024. However, its MoM sales improved by 28% from 42,208 units in December 2024. The newly launched Hyundai Creta EV emerged as a game-changer, propelling Hyundai’s market presence.

The Hyundai Creta (including Creta EV) topped Hyundai’s sales chart with 18,522 units, marking its highest-ever monthly sales. The Hyundai Exter, a stylish and tech-packed compact SUV, recorded 6,068 units in sales, reflecting a 26% YoY drop but a 15% MoM rise from December 2024’s 5,270 units. The Hyundai Xcent/Aura also faced a 2% YoY decline at 5,388 units, but its MoM sales surged by 40%.

Hyundai i10, i20, and Alcazar Sales Performance

Both the Hyundai i10 and i20 encountered double-digit YoY declines in January 2025.

  • The i10 sold 5,311 units, down by 23% YoY from 6,865 units in January 2024, but MoM growth was 18%.
  • The i20 recorded 4,741 units, reflecting a 33% YoY decline but a 37% MoM increase.

The Hyundai Alcazar, a popular 7-seater SUV, saw a YoY and MoM decline. It managed to sell 1,310 units, marking a 28% drop from 1,827 units in January 2024 and a 2% decline from 1,342 units in December 2024.

Meanwhile, the Hyundai Tucson and Ioniq 5 registered low sales figures at 64 units and 16 units, respectively. The Tucson saw a 94% MoM increase from 33 units in December 2024, while the Ioniq 5 continued to decline.
